About

The Potrero del Sol Community Garden is located within the La Raza – Potrero del Sol Park at the intersection of Potrero Avenue and Cesar Chavez Street in San Francisco, CA. The garden is managed by the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Commission. The garden includes both ornamental and edible plants.

Garden plots are available to San Francisco residents as plots become available. New members may join by placing their name and contact information on a waiting list. Wait times are currently about one year. New plots are usually assigned in the early spring. Each member receives a personal plot to cultivate as the member chooses with some minor restrictions.

  • Asparagus
  • Green bean
  • Pea
  • Artichoke
  • Zucchini and summer squash
  • Butternut and winter squash
  • JalapeƱo
  • Nopal
  • Strawberry
  • Raspberry
  • Greens, such as kale, chard, lettuce, and collards
  • Root vegetables, such as carrot, beet, onion, and radish
  • Herbs, such as thyme, oregano, sage, and lavender
  • Hops
